NISEP

The National Indigenous Science Education Program - NISEP is an innovative, university-based program, run collaboratively by Macquarie University staff, high school staff, Aboriginal communities and a growing number of partner organisations and universities.

The main aim of NISEP is to provide secondary students, especially Indigenous students, with the motivation and skills to complete their high school studies and to open pathways to tertiary education.

NISEP at Mount Austin High School

In 2012 Macquarie University’s NISEP team joined force with Charles Sturt University and trained our Koori students to become science demonstrators. The demonstrators get taught various science-based activities ranging from microscopy to polymer chemistry. These demonstrators then become the science team that gives science shows to Year 7 students within the school and our feeder primary schools.
