At Mount Austin High School we have a well equiped library.

Hours of operation

The Mount Austin High School Library opens every morning at 8.30am and is used for a variety of different purposes throughout the day.

Availability:

  • Before school the library is open to all students from 8:30 am.
  • At class time - Periods 1 to 4 the library is available for classes booked in the resource scheduling system.
  • At recess 1 the library is open to senior college students only.
  • At recess 2 and lunch time the library is open to all students.
  • After school the library is available for afternoon tutoring groups and meetings booked in the resource scheduling system.

Teachers can book their classes into the Library through the Resource Scheduling system or by contacting library staff.

Books

We have a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books on a huge range of topics. You will find many books related to school subjects but also a number of titles to suit a wider interest. If you would like us to purchase a certain book for the library collection, please let us know. The library catalogue is the best way to find the location of a book. You can search by title, author, subject, series or key word.

Newspapers and Magazines

We subscribe to the Daily Advertiser and the Sydney Morning Herald each week day.

Laptops

Library laptops are available for loan to any students. Senior College students may borrow a laptop at any time but must have a note from a teacher if it is during class time. Laptops are also available to students in years 7-10 at any time if they have a note from a teacher.

Other Resources

The library also holds a number of other resources available for both students and staff. These include CD ROMs, DVDs, and a large number of other catalogued teaching and learning resources. Please check the library catalogue or ask our library staff for more details.

eBooks

Mount Austin High School does not offer loans of ebooks. The Riverina Regional Library offers ebook loans and membership is free for all of our students. A list of links to a number of other websites that provide access to ebooks:
