Our school can help with enrolment queries throughout the year.
Local enrolment area
Check your address on School Finder to see if it is within our local intake area. Most schools have designated local enrolment areas. Note: local enrolment areas are subject to change.
How to enrol
If you live in our intake area and would like to apply to enrol at our school, start by submitting an online enrolment application. Online enrolment is currently only available for Australian or New Zealand citizens and permanent residents.
If you are not able to apply online or you prefer not to, download the paper application to enrol (PDF 768.4KB) form. Please complete the form in English. A translated application to enrol may help you do this.
Online enrolment can also be used for out-of-area enrolment. Please note that out-of-area enrolment procedures are subject to the department’s enrolment policy.
Enrolment applications are finalised at the school.

The following guidelines will help you with the public school enrolment process. Our staff are happy to assist you, so please contact us if you need any help.
Step one: Check that we are your local high school
Mount Austin High School has a local enrolment area which stretches south from the Sturt Highway, west of Pearson Street, south of Fernleigh Road and west of Willan's Hill. It includes Mangoplah, Uranquinty and Kapooka. If your child's permanent residential address is in this area, your child is entitled to a place at our school. (Note: Enrolment areas are not based on the school that your child may currently be attending.) Every public school reserves enough places within their school for students in their local enrolment area.
You may want more information to help you make an informed decision about your child's education. Every year, we host an information session for you to find out more. Our school principal, is happy to discuss and demonstrate our schools achievements, activities and features, so give us a call to make an appointment or to receive more information about Mount Austin High School.
Step two: Apply to enrol
An Application to Enrol in a NSW Government School form must be completed for every student wishing to attend a public school in NSW. You will require proof of identity (eg. birth certificate), and proof of address for your child.
Your application will be considered by the school to ensure that your child's needs have been identified and addressed. In most cases, this process will be completed very quickly. In some circumstances, it will be necessary for the school to gather further information prior to finalising their decision. You can assist by ensuring the information on your application form is accurate and complete.
You will be formally notified by the school of the result of your application. Please do not purchase items such as uniforms until you receive confirmation of enrolment.
Enrolment forms are available from our front office, the Department of Education and Training office in Wagga Wagga, or online.
When it comes to considering non-local enrolment applications, public school principals must follow certain procedures to ensure that all eligible in-area students wishing to attend their local school are able to do so. Depending on resources, we may be able to accept students from outside our enrolment area at the discretion of our school enrolment panel. Applications for non-local enrolments are considered using a range of criteria, including the availability of appropriate staff and classroom accommodation. To find out more about our non-local enrolment selection criteria contact us.
Step three: Get to know our school
Once you receive confirmation of your child's enrolment, take the opportunity to familiarise yourself with your our school. We host an orientation day towards the end of fourth term for children starting at our school the following year. This is designed to acquaint children with the teachers, classrooms, school procedures and expectations, fellow students and school amenities. Parents and carers are usually invited to this day. The date for orientation will be advised along with information about uniforms, travel options and other important details.
