Common help requests
Installing printers
Many printers are deployed to computers based on their location in the school. Log a job in Sentral if you think one is important but has not been deployed. Staff can install additional printers on individual computers from the list found in the Shortcuts folder on the desktop. Go to Desktop>Shortcuts>Staff_Shortcuts>Install Printers
Installing software
Most software installations are deployed by IT support staff. Students are not able to install software on school computers. Staff can search the DoE Software Catalogue and submit an installation request.
IT Support staff will process the request and deploy the software sitewide or in selected locations as per the request.
Staff can install Microsoft Store apps themselves from the Mount Austin High School - Microsoft App Library. If you wish to install apps from the Microsoft Store on a school PC :
you will first need to run the script called "All Customisations" found in the Staff Shortcuts folder on the desktop. Go to Desktop>Shortcuts>Staff_Shortcuts>Scripts. Then go to the Microsoft Store and install the app. Staff can install other software packages they have downloaded or purchased themselves on individual school computers but this is not encouraged. Please contact IT Support staff for further information.
Student passwords
Students use two different logins. One for detnsw and another for mountaustin.net. Staff can change both of these passwords using different apps.
detnsw passwords
Department passwords are changed via the EMU apps on the DoE staff portal. This password allows students to login to school computers and access the DoE student portal.
mountaustin.net passwords
Our web passwords are changed with the "Password Reset Tool", an app that is installed on most school computers. If it is not installed on your PC, go to the Shortcuts > Staff Shortcuts folder on your desktop to install the app. Follow the instructions given in that folder to install or use the app. This password gives students access to the School Portal (Moodle), Office 365, ClickView, Mathletics and the MAHS Student and Parent Portal where they can check their class timetables, Vivo awards, daily notices and academic reports.
Staff passwords
Staff passwords for both systems can only be reset by the principal or IT support staff. Please contact Ext 127 or Ext 125 for assistance.
