Learning technologies

Mount Austin High School provides a variety of learning technologies to benefit our students and teachers.

Laptop Computers

Our senior students are provided with a laptop on long term loan if they desire one, and across the whole school teachers and students in classes are able to access one of many class sets of laptops stored in trolleys at various locations around the school or borrow sets from the library. Students are free to Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and canget assistance in setting up required software by the school.

Desktop Computers

Mount Austin High School has multiple computer labs located around the campus. Each of the labs offer between 15 and 25 student computers and are available to classes on a period-by-period booking system. Another 25 student computers are available in the library. Many of our classrooms also have up to 12 additional desktop computers available for student use.

The desktop computers installed at Mount Austin High School are updated regularly ensuring that our students always have access to the latest educational software. In 2015, Mount Austin was the first Department of Education school in NSW to install Windows 10 on all of its desktop computers.

Interactive technologies

Mount Austin High School has as least one desktop computer in every classroom for teacher use and most of our classrooms and technical learning spaces have also been fitted with interactive projection equipment. By the end of 2021, every learning space in the school will have an interactive panel. Interactive technologies like these give our students and teachers access to a world of engaging digital learning resources.

Moodle

Mount Austin High School is well recognised for its advanced use of the Moodle learning management system. Many course resources, especially in the senior years, are provided online using this platform. Staff and students have access to files, assessment tasks, forums and other communication tools both at school and from home.

Digital subscriptions

Mount Austin has ongoing subscriptions to MathleticsReading Eggs and ClickView. These services offer our students a rich array of interactive learning experiences.

Office 365

In 2012 Mount Austin High School was the first NSW Department of Education school to adopt the Microsoft Office 365 platform. This cloud based platform provides our students access to familiar office applications like Word, Excel and Powerpoint, OneNote Class Notebooks, 5TB of personal file storage for each user and much more. In 2017 Mount Austin again lead the State in rolling out a trial of Microsoft Teams for Education, a new learning management system embedded in Office 365.
